WWE NXT Results (6/8/2021): Last Stop Before In Your House

The Superstars of the black-and-gold brand are set for the final edition of NXT before NXT TakeOver: In Your House this Sunday. Ember Moon will take on Dakota Kai, Austin Theory battles Oney Lorcan, Killian Dain squares off with Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, Poppy returns and more!

Austin Theory vs. Oney Lorcan: This match comes about because earlier today these two men were scrapping alongside Johnny Gargano and Pete Dunne. This was a really good match with Lorcan showing off his technical game against a young, inexperienced Austin Theory. Pete Dunne and Johnny Gargano make their way down to ringside. Both men would later on start to brawl. The chaos at ringside caused Theory to lose focus on the match and get hit with a Uranage from Lorcan who picks up the win.

LA Knight makes his pitch to Ted DiBiase why he should be the man who should carry on the legacy of the Million Dollar Man and not Cameron Grimes.

Legado Del Fantasma is in the ring to call out the NXT North American Champion Bronson Reed, who of course, obliges. Reed pokes fun at Santos Escobar by playing last week’s incident where Bronson squished Escobar like a bug against the barricade. A frustrated Escobar challenges Reed to come down to the ring. The odds are against Reed until the NXT Tag Team Champions MSK even the numbers. Legado wants none of the smoke as they exit the ring but not before Escobar drops a huge challenge for all three men. At In Your House, Legado Del Fantasma versus Bronson Reed and MSK, winner take all. MSK and Reed agree and the match is set.

Isaiah “Swerve” Scott (w/ Hit Row) vs. Killian Dain: Another very good match. Swerve used his speed and quickness to pull oof some pretty cool elusive escapes however you have to give credit to the rest of Hit Row for really being a thorn in the side of Killian Dain. Drake Maverick tried to stand up for his teammate but ended up getting dumped by Top Dolla. The distraction allows Swerve to hit Killian with a kick to the face and picks up the big upset win.

Cameron Grimes says he is focused on taking the legacy of the Million Dollar Man *clears throat* TOOOO THE MOOOON!

Mercedes Martinez was jumped from behind and still managed to beat her opponent. That is pretty boss.

Grammy nominated artist Poppy dropped her new album tonight live on NXT. Pretty cool. Dexter Lumis came through with a nice photo for Poppy and she thanks him with a hug. Too bad Indi Hartwell walked in on the touching moment. Yikes.

Time for a Million Dollar Announcement from WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase. Cameron Grimes and LA Knight will compete in a Million Dollar Ladder Match. The winner will not only carry the legacy of the Million Dollar Man but they will now carry the Million Dollar Title!

NXT GM William Regal and security have to break up a scuffle between Kyle O’ Reilly and Karrion Kross.

Grizzled Young Veterans vs. August grey & Jiro: Despite Ciampa and Thatcher having a ringside seat, GYV were able to pick up the win with Ticket to Mayhem. After the match, GYV says they don’t care for the duo as their focus is on the NXT Tag Team Championships. Ciampa lets GYV know there is no championships in their future unless they go through Ciampa and Thatcher first. A challenge is laid down for net week, this one being a Tornado Tag Match.

Candice LeRae calls out Poppy. The Grammy nominee doesn’t wrestle but she knows someone who does…IO SHIRAI! The Genius of the Sky hits the ring and drops LeRae. It’s great to see Shirai, hopefully we’ll see her in the ring soon.

Dakota Kai vs. Ember Moon: This was a great back and forth match that unfortunately ended in disqualification. With the referee’s attention distracted, Raquel Gonzalez tried taking out her opponent this Sunday early. The attempt was avoided and Ember Moon drops Gonzalez. WHen Moon has things almost in her favor completely, Gonzalez enters the match and kicks Moon off the turnbuckle causing the DQ. Even with the numbers against her Moon is able to fight off both women and even hit Gonzalez with an Eclipse.

To close out tonight’s NXT we have a face off between all five men who will be competing for the NXT Championship at Sunday’s In Your House PPV. As you probably guessed it the face off broke down into a full on brawl with each man getting a shot in to show off why they think they will stand tall on Sunday. Adam Cole is the only to not take part in the brawl, or so we thought. After Kross lays waste to Dunne, Gargano, and O’ Reilly he stands in the middle as the dominant Champion. Out of nowhere he is dropped by two Superkicks and a Last Shot by Adam Cole. With Kross down Cole takes the chance to gloat with the NXT Championship to close the show. Is this what we will see come this Sunday?
